OPERATING ON EYELIDS
SPECIALISTS WITH EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE OPERATION OF EYELIDS IN MADRID
Within ocular plastic surgery, one of the most frequent operations is blepharoplasty. Patients who decide to have surgery in this area seek to recover expressiveness and brightness in the look, as well as erase the signs of aging.
The results after eyelid surgery are usually good and the results begin to be appreciated soon, although as always this will depend on the patient following to the letter the guidelines indicated by his ophthalmologist.
WHAT IS BLEPHAROPLASTY?
Surgery consisting of the removal of excess skin and bags of fat located in the upper or lower eyelid, thus achieving a rejuvenation of the look, as this area is one of the most affected by the passage of time, giving a tired look to the face.
TYPES OF BLEPHAROPLASTY
Upper Blepharoplasty:
Operation of the upper eyelids in order to eliminate the excess skin, as well as the fat that is left over and that has a more deteriorated aspect by the passage of time.
The objective therefore is to give the patient a more rejuvenated aspect and a rested and clear look.
Lower Blepharoplasty:
The goal is to eliminate the signs of aging that affect the lower eyelids, such as excess skin or fat bags in the eyes.
The goal, as in upper blepharoplasty, is to give the patient a more youthful look to their eyes.
OPERATING ON EYELIDS
It is a minimally invasive procedure, in which a local anaesthetic is applied and the patient can go home on the same day.
- Upper Blepharoplasty: Small incisions are made and excess skin and fat is removed through them to achieve the desired effect.
- Lower blepharoplasty: we can choose two methods or techniques, depending on the place where the incision is made.
Techniques used
- Subciliar technique. In which a microincision is made under the eyelashes, raising both the skin and the muscle to identify the pockets of fat.
- Transconjunctival technique. By means of this technique, the incision is made in the conjunctiva, once the fatty bags have been identified, the process is similar to that of the subciliary technique.
Results
The patient can resume normal life once a week after the intervention and the final results begin to be observed after the third month.
Postoperative.
Postoperative
The recovery after a blepharoplasty will be different in each patient and according to the type of technique performed.
The specialist will ensure a follow-up to see how the patient is recovering. If it has been necessary to use stitches, the stitches will be removed and different indications will be given so that the result is optimal and if there are discomforts, they will be alleviated.
- It is advisable to sleep on your back.
- Wash the area with special care after the intervention to avoid infection, irritation, etc.
- Perform the daily cures indicated by the specialist.
- Do not put on makeup for a week after the operation.
- Follow the treatment that the specialist doctor has advised.
- During the first days after the operation the area will be inflamed and therefore the application of cold compresses or ice is recommended.
- Itching, irritation or excessive tearing may occur.
- Do not make sudden movements or exert too much energy.
- Avoid exposure to the sun until three months after the intervention, in order to favour healing.
- To eliminate fluid accumulation, it is advisable to perform lymphatic drainage during the first week after surgery. This will reduce the postoperative period and promote recovery.
