Intraocular Lens Price
Find out about the price of intraocular lenses according to type of lens and surgery.
The price of intraocular lenses can vary depending on the surgery we are going to undergo: myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism, presbyopia, cataract or transparent crystalline.
It is important to emphasize that the price will never determine the quality of the lens, simply each patient needs an individualized type of lens for their case to be treated.
Many patients come to our office asking for medical or surgical alternatives in order to live an independent life with glasses.
Next we will explain what is the implantation of intraocular lenses and the factors that can condition their price.
HOW MUCH DO INTRAOCULAR LENSES COST?
As we mentioned at the beginning, the price of intraocular lenses can vary depending on the surgery we are going to undergo and the type of intraocular lenses that are going to be implanted.
In the following we will explain the type of operation and the type of intraocular lenses:
- Phakic lenses type ICL: This type of lenses are aimed at correcting myopia, hyperopia and elevated astigmatism. The lens is inserted into the eye just in front of the lens and behind the iris. This is a safe and effective technique.
- Pseudophakic lenses: They are used in cataract, presbyopia or tired eyesight surgeries. Unlike phantom lenses, these do replace the crystalline lens.
- Transparent crystalline: A technique in which the natural lens that is beginning to fail is replaced by an artificial intraocular lens.
- Myopia: is blurred vision caused by excessive curvature of the lens.
- Hypermetropia: is due to a defect in the convergence of the crystalline lens and prevents us from seeing objects clearly.
- Astigmatism: is a refractive problem because the cornea does not have the same curvature in all areas.
- Presbyopia: it is a rigidity in the crystalline lens that prevents us from seeing objects clearly.
- Cataract: is the opacity of the natural lens, usually appearing from the age of 40.
- Transparent crystalline: A technique in which the natural lens that is beginning to fail is replaced by an artificial intraocular lens.
HOW MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE IS THE LENS WILL I SEE BETTER AFTER SURGERY?
Not at all, the type of lens implanted in each client is determined by the type of operation, refraction, and the physiology and anatomy of the eyeball, i.e. not all eyes accept the same type of lens.
In short, the final price of an intraocular lens operation will not determine the quality of the result, since it varies by factors that, as we saw above, are related to the type of eyeball and the type of visual problem.
In our clinics our ophthalmologists will evaluate your particular case to offer you the right type of lens and operation.
